It doesn’t matter if you like them arched and feathered or straight and bold, eyebrows are arguably the most important facial feature. If you’re not satisfied with the ones you have there are several different ways to update them. Filling them in with eye liner, tattoo, tenting or microblading. I had seen some tattoo results and some look down right scary. Or maybe I was just chicken. Either way, it was a little too permanent for more. So, I continued coloring mine in with makeup.
Good brows aren’t cheap, and cheap brows aren’t good.
As a red head I’ve never really had to worry too much about plucking my eyebrows. But as I get older I have noticed I needed more definition and that meant coloring in my eyebrows with makeup EVERYDAY! Such a pain. During the summer time at the pool, the lake and at the gym I looked like a completely different person. Actually you will see I’m pretty scary.
Let me introduce to you my sweet friend Emyli. I knew she did facials and chemical peels but what was this microblading everyone was talking about? She was relocating her studio in our area and couldn’t wait to get in with her. I ended up being her very first client here in her studio in Mt. Pleasant, TX. Isn’t her studio the cutest?
So here is what everyone wants to know. What is Microblading exactly. So, lets break it down.
It is more of an embroidery of trompe l’oeil strokes that look just like real hairs. Before the microblading begins the brows are shaped, waxed, and plucked to desired shape. Then, a topical numbing cream is applied to the area to minimize discomfort, followed by a liquid anesthetic.
Once this takes affect the art begins. The microblading instrument is a number of needles that is hand stoked to fill in the brow. After the stokes have been made a pigment custom matched to your existing hair is applied. You can also choose to go darker if desired.
What to expect for 7-10 days after procedure.
- Avoid direct water on your face/shower. So kick up those pretty feet and take a bath for a few nights.
- Avoid sweating. This was a hard one for me! No cardio for 2 weeks, but worth it.
- Wash face carefully around the eyebrows avoiding brow all together.
- No rubbing, no picking
- Keep your hair away from your face.
- Avoid sun or UV rays
- Keep moisturized / apply grape seed oil or coconut oil twice a day minimum. (Emyli gives you a topical cream to take home)
Once you have heeled, there is a necessary touch-up session to complete the look. I wish I had not had waited this long to have mine done. So do yourself a favor and get those eyebrows done! If you are in the Mt. Pleasant, TX area you can find my girl here at Emyli Skin Studio
See below for all my pictures during this process.
Picture above is with zero makeup, before waxing. All natural.
Picture above if before and after the 1st procedure of microblading.
Pictured above is day of second procedure.
This video will show you the strokes actually being made. Warning! There is a little blood towards the end, but as you can see little to no pain. But what’s beauty without a little pain right girls?
