Sometimes the addition of a single natural object can launch a vignette into perfection. Look for items that have interesting shapes and are to scale with the rest of the display. It can be as simple as a houseplant in the corner of the room. Here I’ve used a deer antler with plenty of curves and points. It’s the same proportion as the stack of books it sits on and the wooden box creates balance on the tray. Use trays, bowls, or vases to gather items to for display.
Taxidermy and antlers are hot in modern home décor and can add a little rustic appeal to a modern home. It’s not a Texas home without some type of antler. Oversized cut agate, marble objects, and objects made of concrete are also a hot item to add texture and depth to a vignette or bookshelf display. Last but definitely not least, FURS! Add a fur pillow, throw, or rug to the space. If you’re not into real animal fur, go faux. It still gives you the same results by layering your textures.
